This Spring Break was a much needed break from an action-packed set of weeks preceding it. The week right before Spring Recess was filled with activities, both social and academic. It consisted of two big midterms, both worth over 25% of my overall grade. In addition, I also had an individual assignment due for my Master’s class “Competitive Advantage Through People” that is worth 35% of my overall grade. Needless to say, I spent a lot of my week concentrated on studying effectively, and absorbing the content from all of my classes. Midterm season isn’t something to take lightly. Something I’m keeping in mind is that soon, this entire set of experiences will all come to an end. Despite being three months into the semester, it still hasn’t fully sunk in that these are some of the last classes I will be attending, the last assignments I will be completing, and the last exams I will be taking. I’m trying not to think about it too much to avoid the onset of nostalgia that is bound to set in sooner, rather than later.

During this Spring Break, I have been taking some time to myself to do the things I really enjoy. I’ve been helping around the house and savoring home-made meals; recently, I’ve been assisting in the garden and potting plants. I’ve also been playing guitar and learning some new jams. Did you know that the Jonas Brothers are back together? They just scored a number one hit, with their brand new single “Sucker.” I’ve gone back and listened to their old music to try and get a sense of where they came from since I didn’t really follow them at their peak.

Even though I’m on break, I still have quite a bit of work to catch up on. I have some assignments due the week of spring break, and some due the week right after it. The major class projects are in full swing at this point and it’s important not to fall behind.

Health-wise, I’ve been trying to recover from a sickness that I caught at the end of last week. This entails drinking many cups of freshly squeezed orange juice and consuming a large number of cough drops. I should be back to normal within a few days. I’m also still continuing my physical therapy exercises to treat my ankle injury from the end of last year.

On the other hand, I’m really looking forward to the debut of the final season of Game of Thrones. It’s been almost two years since the release of the last season. All in all, I’m very thankful to have some time away from the intense workload, but I’m also trying to take advantage of the free time to prepare myself for the final push of my academic career. It feels close, but it’s going to take some dedication and determination to cross the finish line. I’m willing to put in the work to reap the fruits of my 18+ years of academic labor.
