Hey guys! I hope everyone is having an absolutely fabulous semester thus far! I know it has only been a couple of weeks, but it honestly feels like I’ve been here months so I don’t know if that is a good or bad thing.

I’ve decided to finally write my Why ISE blog this week. I’ve been meaning to write it for a while, but I haven’t really been able to find the right words to say. Now that I’m finally getting into courses really tailored to my major and meeting people in ISE, I can finally articulate why I really chose this major.

I came into USC with a predetermined life plan of studying Environmental Engineering and then going to work for the energy department of the government. It had been my “dream” since I was 13. I put dream in air quotes, because dreams are malleable and something that can change drastically over time. 7 years later, and I am living breathing proof of this.ise

A primary reason for switching was that it made minoring in Chinese language much easier. Another reason was that ISE combined both business and technology in a single degree. I get to take database and computer classes with accounting and finance classes. It really was and is a degree that I can do anything with. My options post graduation are endless, so I’m not afraid that I will find a job for me.

The point of this blog isn’t to say that ISE is the best degree (although I might think it is), but rather to tell you guys that you are more than able to change your mind in terms of your degree. Especially at USC, the option to change your mind is more than easy. As always, fight on!
