These are my two room mates, Sarah and Kelsey.
Sarah turned 20, on a Wednesday, on the night when I had a hockey game, during a week full of mid-terms for everyone. With midterms on Thursday and Friday, needless to say, her birthday was a stressful time. So, being the great roommates that we are, Kelsey and I kidnapped Sarah at midnight on Tuesday. She barely got into the entryway before we blindfolded her, picked her up and put her into the car. We drove her around in circles, ending up at In-n-Out which she had been craving all month.
After eating, we put her blindfold back on, got her back into the car and drove back towards campus. We parked at West 27th Apartments and started walking her around both outside and inside, spinning herย occasionally. Somehow, I got to be in charge of walking her around and made it more of a game than a job. I walked her up four flights of stairs, refused to let her hold the hand rail, and “accidentally” ran her into a few walls. We could not stop laughing each time I told her there was one more step when their wasn’t.
After mastering the stairs, we took her up a few more floors in the elevator, even leaving her in the elevator solo for a while. Eventually, we ended up at our friend’s apartment around 1 am, where 10 or 15 of her closest friends were waiting with cupcakes and candles and balloons to scream SURPRISE!
She had no idea and loved that everyone took a few hours out of their studying/ sleeping to help celebrate the day of her birth. ๐ We all came home and the door was decorated and presents awaiting.
Everyone went to sleep happy, and the next morning her brother, mom, and dad drove in from Corona del Mar. They brought her puppy, Troy, for her to play with and then took Sarah and a group of her friends out to dinner. Though she spent her birthday night studying hard, she did well on both midterms. Birthday kidnapping+extravaganza=success!!
