I had such a fun time these past two weekends!  Last weekend I went with a friend to the Navy ROTC Birthday Ball, and this past weekend I went to Chicago for a final round interview, and while I was there, I spent some time with my brother and his girlfriend, who live and work there full time.  Luckily, while I was there, it was really nice weather – 50-60 F, so not nearly as bad as it normally is during the winter (~30 F usually).

Navy Ball was so fun!  One of my friends in my classes invited me.  I was really excited to attend because this year it was held at The Queen Mary, which is a permanently docked cruise ship down in Long Beach, which is about a 45 minute drive from campus.  The venue was so awesome; it was a pretty old cruise ship, so I kind of felt like I was on the Titanic.  There was a really cool ceremony complete with swords, flags, and marching.  They had a really huge cake that they ceremoniously cut with a sword, and the dinner was so delicious.  It was really great hanging out with my ROTC friends!

See you in a few days, LA!

This past weekend, I went to Chicago for a final round interview with PwC (PricewaterhouseCoopers) in their tech advisory practice.  It was awesome to visit the office and meet more PwC employees who gave their insight on the culture and projects at the firm.  About 30 minutes after I finished the interview and left the office, I received a call from PwC indicating that I had received a job offer!!  It was such good news, and it started off the weekend on a really good note!

For the rest of the weekend, I spent it in Chicago with my brother, who I normally barely see since he’s been in school for the past 4 years, and now works full time in Chicago.  Since I had been to Chicago plenty of times before, I didn’t need to do all the touristy things.  This visit was mainly to check out the local places and experience Chicago like a local.  We went out on Friday night and I met a bunch of my brother’s girlfriend’s coworkers.  We went out for brunch and dinner the next day, and we were able to hang out for a bit Sunday morning before I had to catch my plane back to LA.

It was such a fun weekend, and I’m so glad I could take a mini-vacation from USC.  As much as I love USC, the people, and student life here, it’s always great to take a break and just relax.

Talk to you guys next week!

Sincerely,

Cassandra
