I had such a great break! I took a kickboxing class with my friend 4 times a week, spent a lot of time with family, and also practiced on my ukulele and taught myself a bunch of new songs.

After such a relaxing winter break, it was a little tough getting back into the swing of things, but I can safely say I’m ready for this semester! This semester I’m SUPER excited about my classes! They all seem like they’ll teach me tons of applicable skills for my internship as well as my future career.
Probably the class I’m most excited for is my Business Database Systems class. The professor has had tons of experience in data modeling, so I’m sure he will extend much of his knowledge to us. I’m also super excited about the semester-long project we will be working on. We have a client for which we are going to design relational database applications using Oracle 11g.
Two ISE classes I’m taking are about production, logistics, and scheduling. These are more about managing a manufacturing facility, and we will be designing the layout of such a facility in class.
Another class I’m really excited about is called Principles and Practices of Global Innovation (or more familiarly known as iPodia). As a global innovations class, we will be working on a semester-long project with students from international universities. This work will culminate at the end of the semester with a 2 week trip to South Korea to present our projects and do a little sightseeing!
Aside from that, I’m super pumped about my involvements as well.
The Society of Women Engineers remains a large part of my life. Among some of the great events we have planned this semester are Spring Evening with Industry (a large dinner networking event), tons of corporate luncheons, a henna event, and Regional Conference in Salt Lake City, UT! So much to look forward to!
Practices with the USC Marathon Team are amping up in mileage in preparation for the LA Marathon on March 17th! Each Sunday we go to the coast for our ‘long runs’ along the beach. Last week was 14 miles, and next week I hope I’m ready for the 16 miler!
