Hey guys,

What’s up? I just got back from Spring Break and I can’t believe there is only 5 more weeks of school. Spring Break was a blast. I went to Laguna Hills, a short hour drive, from USC, and relaxed at the beach which catching up on some work and finalizing plans for my internship this summer. Good news is that I put my deposit in for housing in Milwaukee this summer. I now will have a roof over my head and I can’t wait to meet my co-workers in person. We had an introductory teleconference over break and they all seemed pretty awesome.

Milwaukee is only 2 and half hours or so away from Chicago. So I definitely can’t wait to go back to Lollapalooza this summer.

I wanted to talk about in this blog one of my favorite things, taking leadership roles and getting involved. I wanted to bring this up because I just started to feel the fruits of my labor recently. Within the past couple of weeks I have been able to be involved with a lot of awesome things on campus because of my leadership positions.

IFC New Member Retreat:

I got to speak at the IFC New Member retreat right before break. This was a really humbling experience and I enjoyed it a lot. The New Member Retreat is put on by the Interfraternity Council and is attended by all the new members of the greek chapters on campus. There were six presentations. My presentation revolved around time management, how to take leadership positions in a chapter, and how to get involved on campus. It was awesome to present to these great individuals and was fun honing my presentation skills.

Order of Omega Initiation:

We just got to initiate our new batch of initiates for Order of Omega, a greek honor society that is composed of the top 3% of the greek community. Shout out to Lyssa, a fellow VSA, for getting in. I was in charge of processing dues payments before initiation and then on Wednesday night we initiated the new members, then went out for dinner after. It was a great time and I can’t wait to get to know the new members over the coming year. (P.S. I submitted my application to be Order of Omega President for the following year, I will let you know how it turns out).

Order of Omega Logo DesignGreek Awards:

One of the coolest things I have been working on lately has been the Greek Awards with the Order of Omega Board. Greek Awards is currently scheduled for next Wednesday in our biggest auditorium on campus, Bovard. The Board will be administering all of the awards to the respective chapters based on the completeness of their awards package which was submitted about a month ago. This is a premier event for the greek community in the spring and is the largest greek wide event in the spring. I can’t wait to see how it comes together, and how our hard work pays off.

Freshman Academy:

I just got notified on Tuesday that I will be invited back to be a Freshman Academy Coach! I am so excited to get to plan events for incoming Freshman and get to know all of the incoming students on a more personal level.

It has been awesome to have all of these experiences so far and I can’t wait to see what else USC has in store. Also I got accepted to Viterbi’s Progressive Degree Program in Engineering Management, a 4 + 1 master’s program, so I will probably be sticking around USC for one more year.

Have a great weekend,

Brenton
