Last semester, I took AME 308: Mechanics of Fluids and I never got to fully talk about the amazing rocket project we did. The course covers a deep introduction to fluid dynamics which culminates in the final rocket project.
The project consisted of optimizing a bottle rocket (yes, those bottle rockets we made in middle school) to go the highest and we had to make a recover system for the rocket. We optimized the rocket by using a matlab code to test the parameters of the rocket with various water ratios, and then built our design.
In the end, our group got 1st place for best design because of the height our rocket got and our consistently working parachute!
