Nitasha and I have been working on our webisode for March. It is about design teams. I’ve learned a lot about all the design teams we have here at USC and it has been a lot of fun as well as a great learning experience.
First off, there are soooooo many design teams at USC! I was shocked by the amount we had to choose from. From the concrete canoe to aero design club, there is really something for everyone. In the end, we chose to highlight the concrete canoe team, the steel bridge team, and the rocket lab.
Both the concrete canoe team and steel bridge competitions are under the USC chapter of ASCE (American Society of Civil Engineers). I actually got to meet the ASCE national president-elect. She was extremely cordial and I got to go on a lab tour with her and the USC chapter president. The structures lab is in the bottom of KAP, a building here on campus. It has a structure that shakes to emulate an earthquake, a bunch of machines to test strength of materials, and areas where both the concrete canoe and steel bridge team members work on their projects! It was awesome, and I don’t think I would have known about it unless I had done a little bit of digging for this webisode! For more info visit: http://viterbistudents.usc.edu/asce/

I’ve been working with the rocket lab this semester and had so much fun! Last week, I got to cut and measure carbon fiber for a rocket we’ve been working on. For more info on the rocket lab visit: http://rpl.usc.edu/updates/
