One of my favorite times of year is Christmas…which for me I get to celebrate twice. My mom is Catholic while my dad is serbian-orthodox, so I get to celebrate Christmas on both December 25 as well as January 7. When I was little, I always got the day off of school, so now it is not as much fun. We always use to go over to my Grandma’s house on Christmas eve. We would eat a huge dinner, celebrate the burning of the yule log and spread hay in the basement to represent the birth of the baby Jesus. My grandma always use to keep the cookies in the backroom of the house and my brother, sister, cousins, and I would always sneak back there and eat the cookies before dinner. On Christmas morning we would all gather back at the house to open presents. It was so much fun. This year was different because my sister was in Italy, and my brother was back to work in Washington DC. I was the only one at home. Although Christmas has changed, I will never forget all the times I had when I was little.
