Although, I am not part of the marathon team this year, I spent both my freshman and sophomore year training with the USC marathon team. The marathon team starts training at the end of October each school year for the Los Angeles marathon, which is run each March.

My freshman year, the Los Angeles marathon date was moved to May. Luckily for us, the Pasadena marathon had been cancelled in November and was rescheduled for the third weekend in March! Both marathons I have run have been over Spring Break. This is great on one hand because I get to rest before my long run, but it is also a little frustrating because I have never had a ‘normal’ spring break.

Here's me after my first marathon!

I ran my first marathon in the spring of my freshman year. I finished it in 4 hours and 12 minutes! The run was hard, and even though you can’t tell from the picture, it rained for the first half of the race! Afterwards, I was exhausted!!!

The next year, I trained and completed the Los Angeles marathon. Here are some pictures from the event:

Mile 23! I was ready to be done. (I'm the short one in the red short!)

After the race...super happy to be done. Fight on!

The medal!!!

After the second marathon, it took me a looonnnggggg time to recover. They say you can’t run another marathon until you forget your last. I haven’t gotten over that last marathon yet, so I don’t see myself doing another one for a while. I’d like to run Chicago sometime, but I’m going to save that for when I’m ready!

For now, I’m sticking to half marathons, for fun. In January I’ll be running the Tinkerbell half marathon at Disneyland! I’m planning on wearing fairy wings for the event. I have to start training next week, so I’ll keep you updated on how my training is going!
