Ahhh. It’s October again! Back home in Indiana this meant: fall weather, leaves changing, apple picking (to include apple donuts, apple butter, apple cider, apple pancakes, apple strudel, apple pie, apples and caramel, well you get it), pumpkin carving, crisp cool mornings, and crunchy leaves. Here in Southern California it means Halloween at Disneyland! This is the second year I ventured to Disneyland for Mickey’s Halloween Party, and there has been talks of returning for next year (even if we no longer reside in LA).
As usual we ate WAY too much candy, rode splash mountain 3x in a row, and had a magical time!
Friday was spent looking for a costume. The weather was actually very fall like for Los Angeles, and it even ‘rained’ a little. We originally planned to go as Timon, Pumba, and Simba (Lion King), but after entering Target we changed course. After nearly 3 hours, and countless costume choices (banana, chicken…chicken drumsticks, rocket ship), we walked out with fairy wings and dresses from the clearance aisle. Brittney and I finally decided upon faires and Brenton was still Simba:
When we got to Disneyland, we of course headed straight for the Halloween themed rides stopping for candy along the way…For those of you that don’t know, for the halloween party, trick-or-treat booths are set up throughout the park! Needless to say, we set-up a candy trading system on our drive to Anaheim…I am happy to say that I got all the peanut m&ms! I can also say that I have been trick-or-treating every year of my life…I’m not sure if this isĀ embarrassingĀ or just awesome. =)
Also, Disney does special themes on some of the rides. Space Mountain turns into Ghost Galaxy, and the Haunted Mansion is decorated as the Nightmare Before Christmas!!! The Haunted Mansion is one of my favorite rides and with the addition of Jack Skellington, the ride nearly ties with Splash Mountain as my favorite ride in the park!
Another great year at Disneyland!!! My goal for October? To eat something pumpkin flavored everyday of the month….So far so good:
October 1: Pumpkin ice Cream
October 2: Pumpkin Bread…going to have to pick up some pumpkin at the grocery store later…
*DEFINITEY going again next year. I know some people who are going to be desperate for 70 degree weather in October.
