On Saturday, I ran 22 miles!!! This is the longest run before the Los Angeles marathon on March 21.
I woke up early on Saturday morning (6am) so I could run. It was pouring rain and there was a tsunami warning for southern California. Needless to say I went back to bed and woke up closer to noon. The weather had cleared up a bit, and I convinced my roommate to drive me to the beach in order to complete my run. Usually, I would go with the team to run on Sunday, but I had other plans. So, here I was at Dockweiler Beach on Saturday afternoon, with my roommate coming to pick me up in four hours. 22 miles separated me from the rest of my weekend.
The run went really well!!! I don’t think a run has actually ever felt that good. I was pretty much by myself on the beach. There was rain and wind, but I had 3 hours and 40 minutes to think and clear my mind. There were really no other people on the beach except for Venice, and everyone quickly ran inside when it began to pour! I ran all the way to Will Rogers State Park in Malibu, and at 11 miles I turned around.
I could not be more excited for the marathon. With only 23 days to go, I am nervous but becoming really excited. My sister is coming to watch me, and I am so excited for her to see me finish. All the hard work that goes in to a marathon for those four+ hours of payoff, and I can’t wait for the day.
