Freshman year I lived in Marks Tower. It’s located in “Southside” which is what we call the area where most of the freshman dorms are on campus. Marks Tower is a co-ed building but guys and girls are separated by floors. Guys are on the 2nd, 4th, 6th, and 8th floors and the girls were on the other floors. The rooms are not huge but they are a good size for 2 people. The dorm as a whole was very social but not so much so that I couldn’t study there. There is a resident advisor (RA) on each floor. The RA is there as a resource to help students transition into their freshman year of college. My RA planned fun events like dinners to places in downtown LA, movie nights, and beach days for everyone in the building.
I really loved living in a dorm. Many of my friends are people I met in Marks Tower. I even hang out with my RA from freshman year still. Before I moved into the dorm I was really worried that I wouldn’t like my roommate or that it might be difficult to meet people but dorm-life turned out to be one of the best parts of college.
