One of my favorite things about USC is how I always seem to stumble upon the Trojan family wherever I go and today was the perfect example of that. This morning I went to go vote in person (if you’re reading this and haven’t voted go vote! Also listen to the Viterbi voices podcast released on 11/2/20 to hear about engineering students and their experiences with voting and politics in general at USC). When I got to the voting center I was greeted by a man who said “Nice shirt” (referencing my USC shirt) and asked if I went to USC. When I confirmed he replied with “USC Viterbi class of ‘82”. After we chatted for a bit I walked inside to get my ballot and the women checking me in also noticed my shirt. She turned to my mom and told her that she must be so proud of me for going to such a great school like USC. My mom said she was very proud of me even though she went to UCLA.  These two interactions are part of the reason I love the Trojan community so much. The sense of community that USC provides is so comforting and I know will be very beneficial in my future. Whether someone graduated last year of 50 years ago the sense of trojan pride never leaves. I love that people go out of their way to acknowledge USC gear and it’s always an honor to get a “fight on” while I’m out and about.
