One of the things that I will miss the most about being on USC’s physical campus is the spirit and school pride of the trojan family. As a USC Spiritleader this is one of my favorite things about school. Usually in the spring, I get the opportunity to support our Men’s Volleyball, Men’s Basketball, Men’s Baseball, Men’s Tennis, Women’s Lacrosse, and our water polo teams. These sporting events usually fill my weeknights with fun and excitement and this is something I will greatly miss as we transition to online classes for the rest of the semester. I’ll miss seeing trojans decked out in cardinal and gold supporting other trojans. It breaks my heart that seniors in these sports got their season cut short, but I am grateful the NCAA has allowed spring student-athletes another year of eligibility if they want it.
With these sad and difficult times, I can’t help but look forward to next fall when we are reunited again. Fall is my favorite time of the year as it is not only the start of a new school year, but also the start of football season. I absolutely adore gamedays. My game day looks a little different from the average student. I wake up, put on my uniform, grab my meg and join my team in bringing the trojan spirit out of all the spectators. You might see me in my red uniform with my big white megaphone flying through the air as we perform with the USC Marching Band on Trousdale before the game. From there we march over to the stadium and get ready for kick off. Nothing beats the thrill of getting to lead the football team out of the tunnel (and also the thrill of hoping I don’t get trampled by a football player in the process). Then I get to enjoy the game, cheering extra loud from the sidelines, with my trojan family.
Right now it’s looking forward to these special moments at USC that’s helping me through this challenging time. I feel so lucky and fortunate to miss something this much and this situation has helped reaffirm that USC is really the best school for me. I can’t wait to be back in the best seats in the house.
Also! Only 171 days until USC gets to take on the University of Alabama at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington Texas! Look out for me on the field next season!
