Hello friends!

To start things off, my song recommendation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1LsabQV0Yjk

This semester, I am taking AME 204, which is Strength of Materials (SOM, hence my terrible pun). So far we’ve learned about different kinds of stresses and deformations a material can take. If this doesn’t sound interesting, I assure you I wouldn’t be blogging about it if it wasn’t.

we analyze structures like these!

This is the first AME class where I really feel like I am learning things that I can apply to the world, and not learning prerequisites. When our professor is explaining concepts in class, he brings up real world applications, like how scissors work and why we would pick aluminum over steel in certain machines.

If you’re considering AME, look forward to the material you’ll learn in this class!
