I still catch myself stumbling over my words when I tell someone “oh yeah, I’m a senior!” Senior year is officially here and we are back on the grind. These first few weeks have already flown by so quickly, with classes, involvement fairs, and catching up with friends. This semester, I’m taking two grad classes, since I’m pursuing my Masters degree too, and my senior capstone class! Before I get caught up in the whirlwind of homework and meetings, I’m making myself a to-do list for senior year:
1. Get outdoors more!
The weather has been beautiful in LA so far and I want to make the most out of it! Recently, I bought a hammock of Amazon for $25 and it’s honestly been such a great investment. It’s light and packable, so I just throw it in my backpack whenever I have free time between classes! And it’s so cozy! I can spend hours hanging out in my hammock reading a book and doing some homework, and it’s always nice to be outdoors. There’s this cute little hill by McCarthy Quad where you can catch a lot of people hanging out (literally) and I’m sure I’ll be spending a lot of time there this year 🙂
2. Try out some new hobbies.
Lucky for me, I don’t have many required classes left to take, other than a few electives! This means I have a good amount of free time and free units in my schedule to take some cool classes on things I’ve always wanted to try.
This semester, I’m taking EALC 102, which is a Chinese calligraphy class! I’ve always wanted to try doing Chinese calligraphy but never really had a chance to get started. Class is super chill and only meets once a week, and during class we practice writing different strokes and characters. So far, I think I’m doing okay!
I’m so excited for this last football season with my friends! The student section is so special and it’s always been one of my favorite things at USC :’) Last weekend, I took my dad to the season opener and he said he was amazed that the students can stay standing for the entire game! Crossing my fingers for this to be a great season!
4. Find a job!
This is probably the most serious and adult one on my list. Like I mentioned in my last post, I have a full-time offer from Slack! I’ve been interviewing with other companies but am getting really close to making a decision. Don’t be surprised if you catch me in SF next year!
There’s a lot happening during senior year and what I’ve learned so far is, you just gotta go with it. Thanks for catching up with me, here’s to another great school year!
