Hey! I’m Tim, a sophomore studying Chemical Engineering with a Petroleum emphasis from Calgary, Alberta. On campus, I’m involved in the philanthropic organization Volunteers Around the World, with which I have travelled on medical outreach trips to Peru and Cambodia, am on the international outreach project team of Engineers Without Borders, and am a member of the social fraternity, Tau Kappa Epsilon. Throughout my freshman year, I also played on USC’s Club Ice Hockey Team. This past summer, I interned as an Investment Banking Analyst at AltaCorp Capital, a boutique investment company in my hometown. Keep scrolling to check out what my #ViterbiLife is like!

My Favorite Places in LA

As a member of USC’s chapter of Volunteers Around the World (VAW), I’ve travelled on medical outreach trips to Cusco, Peru, and Siem Reap, Cambodia. Check out the organization’s website!
Growing up in Canada and being raised on hockey, it was a no-brainer for me to join USC’s Club Team. Playing in the ACHA’s PAC-8 Conference, we play against, as well as travel to, rival schools such as UCLA, Berkeley and University of Washington.
Last semester, I became involved in USC’s chapter of Engineers Without Borders (EWB). This club is currently focused on two projects: an international outreach project in Antigua, Guatemala, and a local initiative at the San Diego Safari Park.

My Major at USC: Chemical Engineering

My Favorite Classes
As a Computer Science/Business Administration major my freshman year, this course was a one of two first-year requirements. Though I was admittedly not such a fan of the coding aspect of computer science, this course provided an interesting perspective on the field, offering an overview of computer science both as a discipline and body of knowledge.

My Favorite Shows

  • The Office: This show is timeless. In fact, it made such a big impact on me that I based one of my supplemental engineering essays off of one of its quotes. Although it’s been over for almost four years now, the lessons Michael Scott has taught us will live on with me forever

  • This Is Us: I actually don’t watch that much TV anymore, but I recently saw the pilot episode to this series and it blew my mind. It’s a relatively new show so I don’t think it’s gained too much popularity yet, but give it a watch and let me know what you think.
