Why USC was Right For Me

Deciding where to go to college can be tough. There are so many factors that must be considered in this process and it can be pretty overwhelming trying to figure out where to start.

So here's my story and some of the factors I considered which led me to USC!

I had actually applied to USC as an architecture major. I was considering multiple areas of study, ranging from astrophysics to theatre. I was looking for a school that had renowned programs in all of the areas of study I was considering. I also wanted to make sure I would have the opportunity to easily change majors, obtain additional degrees in other academic programs, and take classes in all of the academic schools at the university.

I knew I didn't want to go to college in my hometown (Indiana). I was looking for a school in a new and exciting environment and climate. I also wanted to go to a university where the student body was incredibly diverse and I could make friends with individuals from incredibly unique backgrounds. I also wanted to be on a campus that was near big events, significant locations, and (most importantly) lots of good food.

For many students a university's price tag can be one of the largest deciding factors in whether or not they'll even apply. I knew I wanted to go to a school that would be affordable for my family, where I could graduate in four years and not have to take out excessive loans. Thankfully, the incredible merit and need-based scholarships and financial aid at USC made attending USC more affordable for me than many of the universities in my hometown (even if you don't think you'll receive any aid still apply for it! You'd be surprised!).

I am so grateful that USC ended up being the perfect school for me! So far my college experience has been so much more valuable than I ever could have imagined when applying.
