Last October, I attended the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing in Houston, Texas. It was such a fun opportunity. I networked with representatives from some of the world’s top tech companies, attended seminars, and, best of all, met other girls in engineering.
I think Grace Hopper is one of the best places for women to network and search for internships. It is so empowering to be in a large venue with hundreds of females wanting to be great computer scientists.
This year, it will be held in Orlando. To help you earn a scholarship or travel grant to attend, I am sharing five programs that have scholarship applications still open. They are due soon, though, so start applying now!
I highly recommend any girls entering Viterbi in the fall apply for these scholarships. Even though you will miss a week of school, professors encourage girls to attend the conference, so they are super understanding and will work with you to make up any schoolwork you miss.
Here are the programs and the links to their applications:
Grace Hopper is a life-changing opportunity, so I recommend you try to attend sometime in the future, even if it’s not this year.
Happy application season!Meet Natalie
