Halloween Maddness

Okay so the ghost thing was a fail.  But it’s okay, because I modified and quickly transformed into a bunny!! I just had the white outfit and realized there was no possible way for me to make a cute ghost and have people know what I was and it felt like too much effort ha. So I just borrowed a pair of ears and a tail I pinned to me and presto!… Bunny.  This weekend was really fun and my personal favorite outfits I saw were a group of people (of which Evan Lee was one of) that were the Average Joes and Globo Gym.  They had shirts made and everything… it was awesome, I was jealous.

But before the Halloween maddness happened, on Thursday I went out Karaoking with a bunch of people for a friend’s 21st birthday… I have to confess I do not sing in public, so I was a little afraid.  But it ended up being a blast! We went to this place in Little Tokyo and we got a room to ourselves and were able to blast the music so loud that it didn’t really matter who heard you… so I’m proud to say I was belting out AC/DC, Aaron Carter and Britney all night long.

And just an fyi I purposefully did not mention Saturday’s football game… too painful and too soon to talk about :(

Until next time,

So this weekend was parent’s weekend at USC.  It was fun seeing how much my friends are like their parents.  My parents just came out for the game yesterday, and with them came family friends from Northern California, whose daughter is a junior in high school.  They came to look at colleges and naturally I had to take her to a football game.  After having to sneak her in to the student section, we had a blast cheering the Trojans on to victory against the Beavers, who I must say gave us a scare that second half… not cool.  I think she enjoyed her time very much :)

Today was Presents for the sororities, where the new members wear white dresses and are “presented” to the house with all of their parents there.  It was nice seeing my grandlittle up there and I got to meet her mom! After presents I just lounged around and got caught up on some work and then went to Yogurtland and Halloween costume shopping.

Yogurtland was amazing as always and I had pumpkin pie ice frozen yogurt mixed with vanilla (yum).  My three friends and I were talking about Halloween and still didn’t have any set plan so we finally settled on being traditional Halloween characters.  A black cat, a pumpkin, a witch, and a ghost.  If you can’t tell from the title of my post, I’m the ghost.  We went to American Apparel and I got a fun white outfit, complete with a large see through scarf that I have to decide how I want to wear it… I don’t know if anyone will be able to tell right off the bat if I’m ghost, but I figure if I say “boo” enough all night people will get it… now we are set for next weekend and I can’t wait to see when everyone else will be for Halloween!!

Until next time,

Happy Birthday to Me!

Today is my 20th birthday!! I have finally left my teen years behind me and its weird to think I am fast approaching “real life.”  That’s what my friends and I call the world beyone college, you know, the one where we have real jobs and responsibilities.  I absolutely am excited to see what life has in store for me as far as career and life paths but I LOVE college.  All I know is how to go to school and learn and although I have had jobs and traveled, I still feel like that is a whole new territory I’m not quite ready to face just yet… I know I still have a couple more years and I am determined to make the most of them! One more year and I’ll be 21.  I am often considered the baby of my friends and everyone else is turing 21 this year, so I’m not doing much for it, just a brunch and seeing my family, but I want to start planning for next year.  I’m not normally too big on my birthdays, the last time I had a party was when I was 16, but I feel like I should have something planned for my big 2-1.  Alright, well I’m off to celebrate with my fam and get a head start on this week’s school work…

Until next time,

Ciao Bella… ROMA

Ciao!

Rome was INCREDIBLE. I went with my family as kind of a part of my brother’s high school trip to the Vatican for the cannonization ceremony of Father (not Saint) Damien… he goes to Damien High School so it was kind of a big deal.  I went to Spain this summer with the Viterbi program and was able to go to Florence and Venice as well, but never made it to Rome so this was the first time for my whole family.  The sights and history of the city was amazing, and especially as a civil engineer I appreciated all of the architectural marvels as well as the artistic ones.  The Colliseum and the Pantheon were two of my favorite spots.  Traveling with my family is always entertaining, but one of the highlights was when the Pope waved at my dad… but actually.  We saw a motorcade being set up for someone to go into or out of Saint Peter’s Square so we were waiting to see who it was.  There were only about 40 people left standing around because everything was closing and my dad, being the curious one he is, decides to get in the front to get a view.  A black car with black windows comes and drives by and my dad is the ONLY ONE waving. Completely embarassed I was going towards him to tell him to stop it, but then the window rolled down and the Pope stuk his head out and waved back… we were all so shocked that we didn’t manage to get any pictures even though he was only 15 feet away.  I’m convinced my dad will tell this story the rest of his life and jokingly claims the Pope and him are bff’s now… oh parents.

Until next time,

Weekender/Cal Domination

I love San Francisco.  From the cool weather to the friendly people to the eccentric parts of town, it is such a fun city to visit.  This year was my second time traveling to the city for our weekender, when USC plays either Stanford or (as this year was) Cal.  The USC community takes over the city and everywhere you go you see cardinal and gold.  I went up with six of my friends and we stayed on the top floor of the W hotel and could see the golden gate bridge outside our room.  On game day, we went to Cal’s campus and got to hang out with USC and Cal students before actually going into the staduim, where I got to sit right behind GEORGE FREAKING LUCAS.  Needless to say that just capped off a fabulous weekend and I am sad it’s over and I have to return to USC… but next week I get to go to Rome, Italy with my family so I should have some adventures for the next post!

Until next time,

Invite

This weekend was my sorority’s first invite of the year! It was semi-formal, which meant we got to dress up just like we were in high school again… SO MUCH FUN. I had a great time and the venue in Hollywood was awesome.  I got to dance the night away with friends and it was the perfect way to end a stressful week! I’ve been trying to figure out my classes for studying abroad in Edinburgh, Scotland next semester and it’s been very difficult, but I’m almost there and it’ll be so worth it in the end… hopefully I’ll have some good news in the next couple of weeks about it.

Until next time,

HEROES at ADPi!

This past week at my sorority house (Alpha Delta Pi) the t.v. show Heroes decided to use my house for filming for the second time! It was complete chaos and people were running everywhere, which was especially surprising when I woke up only to find 30 people outside my door taking measurements and setting up.  It was so cool seeing how eveerything was set up, then filmed and taken down… what I assume will only be a 5-10 minute segment of the show took 3 days at our house!! The cast and crew were so incredibly nice and even let us watch the rehersal takes.  Since there are so many cast members only a few were there but Hayden was one of them (plus her dad and the Haitian)!  We also just found out that as a treat for moving our cars or living in the house (both of which I am included in) the Heroes crew gave us each $15 to Starbucks, which I might add I’ve already used some of… so cool!

Until next time,

Kristy
