ACSE prepares scientists, engineers and technologists for success in the global business world, celebrate diversity on campuses and in the workplace, and to provide opportunities for members to make contributions to their local communities. ACSE membership is open to men and women of all ethnic backgrounds.
KSEA explores and promotes academic and career issues related to the field of science and engineering, and helps those interested in the field to get to know one another better outside the classroom and laboratory.
NSBE’s purpose is to increase the number of culturally responsible Black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community.
Out in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics is a national LGBTQ-affirming organization that aims to provide services and support for students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics and to create a dynamic network between students and professionals in industry and academia.
Sigma Phi Delta (SPD) prides itself upon being ‘The Premier International Fraternity of Engineers’. The brotherhood works to prepare its members for both Academic and Professional challenges, and each member strives for the promotion of the Engineering Profession.
SHPE promotes the development of Hispanics in engineering, science and other technical professions to achieve educational excellence, economic opportunity and social equity. Membership is open to both women and men in engineering, regardless of graduate or undergraduate status.

Listen to what our professional orgs are up to

The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers is a student organization that seeks to empower, motivate, and inspire the hispanic student body of the Viterbi School of Engineering. They focus their events on community outreach, professional development, and academic excellence, and offer a tight-knit social community for their members.

Paul and Alex talk with Sydney and Jennifer, two leaders in USC’s chapter of the Society of Women Engineers. Sydney and Jennifer tell us how SWE seeks to empower Viterbi’s large body of women engineers through their many professional, social, and community outreach activities throughout the year.

Paul and Kelly sit down with Frankie and Shana who are on the executive board of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). They tell us about what is it like being in a diversity group, all the fun and professional events they put on, how they won the best student chapter in the whole US, and how Frankie doesn’t know how to start a fire.
