What I Miss Most from Home!!

Hey Guys and Gals,

I hope school is treating you well. A question I tend to get since I am so far from home (Baltimore, Maryland), is “How do you live so far away,” or “do you miss home?” On a regular basis, I actually don’t really miss home. There is so many things to do here and ultimately LA has become my new home over the last four years. Living so far away from home, sometimes you begin to miss the things you have been around so much.  You miss your dog, your house, and sometimes, home cooking.

When I go home for Thanksgiving and Winter break, these are a couple things that I make sure to do. I go visit my friends, eat at my favorite lunch spot, and most importantly go visit my family. My family is spread across the Earth and I don’t hold anything closer to my heart than my family. Christmas and Thanksgiving are the only times a year where we are capable of meeting up all at the same time. You better believe that we take advantage of this time. We share stories, play board games, occasionally argue, but we always have a great time around great food; nothing is like a home cooked meal. My family is my main motivation and ultimately the reason I made it to USC, but even though I don’t get to see them as often as I would like , I still wouldn’t change my choose to come to USC. USC is an amazing school in an amazing area; so amazing that all my family, and even some of my friends, have visited me here in LA.

I couldn’t imagine myself being anywhere else. To me, anywhere I would have went that requires me to fly or drive more than 3 hours, has the same cons of not being able to see your family.  I came to USC because I knew that if I was going to be away from my family, it had to be somewhere special. Some people might say I was crazy for leaving all these things behind, but honestly, the last four years of my life could never have been experienced anywhere else: going snowboarding, to the beach, to awesome concerts, I think you get the point. Even though I don’t get to see my family and friends on a regular basis, I believe that my journey out here has been the greatest time of my life. Don’t let distance or new places hold you back from having awesome adventures.
