If you don’t have a car on campus, there are plenty of LA attractions within walking distance from USC! Something that’s a little outside of the box to do with your free time is to go visit the group of museums just south of campus. You can learn about science, natural history, African American culture, and art all within a short walk! Not to mention, most of these museums are adjacent to the Rose Garden, if you’re just looking for somewhere to relax and enjoy a little bit of nature.
- California Science Center: Here, you can learn about anything and everything science related! Their permanent fixtures include exhibits on space travel, earthquakes, LA history, and animal and plant life. Some of the recent notable travel installations include exhibits on Pompeii, the Science of Superheroes, and the inner workings of the human body!
- Natural History Museum: This museum has themed rooms dedicated to the exhibition of animal life from all different regions of the world. They of course have some great information on dinosaurs, and the gem and precious metal exhibit is a stunning highlight. The best part – admission is free to USC students!
- USC Fisher Museum of Art: This art museum is actually located on USC’s campus. It houses all types of art, from classical to modern, and professional master to student. If you’re at all interested in art history or the modern art scene in LA, check out this museum!
