Napping is cool in College

Camila Salomon Gnecco Camila, Viterbi Class, Viterbi Life

Do you all remember nap time in pre-school or kindergarten? While I can’t give you descriptive details of preschool memories I do remember the infamous pre-school nap time. All the cool kids would stay up as an act of rebellion against being told to do something. I have to admit, I was one of those kids, but now, I love taking naps throughout my day.

Grassy area near music school

Some days, I have three-hour breaks between classes and my goal is always to be super productive during that time. This, however, includes taking a 20-30 min nap/rest. Preferably, my naps/rest will be outdoors! Since the weather is typically perfect to be outdoors I’ll lay down on the grass near the music school or at the Parkside cabanas (Some really comfy outdoor couches on campus) and close my eyes for a little bit, and just feel the warmth of the sun. For me, taking these little breaks from a busy schedule actually allows me to improve my alertness and be more productive.

As I mentioned, typically I’ll take my little breaks either in the Parkside Cabanas or near the music school. I like the music school because occasionally you’ll get to hear some of the talented students practicing their instruments and it adds to the total relaxedness of the moment. Even with a busy schedule, it’s improtant to take moments to just chill which will allow you to power through the rest of your day!
