Tommy's Tours

A volunteer tour guide program where students train to give tours specially designed for middle and elementary schoolers. It is incredibly rewarding to be able to talk to these young kids about what it means to be in college and that it’s a possibility for everyone!

Orientation Advisor

Over the summer I get to help incoming students first learn to navigate around campus and register for classes. We do fun bonding activities and start to get to know what it’s really like to go to USC!

My Major: Electrical Engineering

How did I pick my major?

Electrical Engineering seemed to be the most diverse and tangible major to me. I saw everything around as someway being touched by an EE from my phone to my thermostat. I wanted to be part of something that truly affects people’s lives and EE was that for me. Although my idea of building circuits and robots was transformed once I came to USC, I fell in love with the beauty and simplicity of the conceptual math side of Electrical Engineering, something that I didn’t even know existed.

My Favorite Classes

This class totally changed my life. It was brutally hard and I definitely struggled over every assignment but it fundamentally changed how I thought about math. Plus my professor is now my research advisor and the coolest guy ever. It was also such a rewarding experience to put all that work in and be successful in the end, I can’t wait to be a TA for it next semester.

Favorite LA Spots

I love to take the metro to Santa Monica and just relax on the beach. It’s the perfect way to end a weekend!

My Netflix Obsessions

  • I have always loved this show and turn it on whenever I need to feel good about being in college. Aaron Sorkin is also one of my favorite writers of all time so just listening to show is like listening to music.

Favorite USC Tradition

The best tradition on USC’s campus is most certainly saying “fight on!” This ritual, although it happens everyday, is such an affirming way of connecting our Trojan family. I love to shout this little tradition when I see a stranger in the airport or on the street wearing something with USC on. It is a tradition that binds our family together and is by far my favorite thing to participate in.
