Shopping Near USC

Hey Guys,

When many people (mainly girls) come to campus, they wonder where they can go shopping. Since USC is located in the heart of LA, there aren’t many malls near it , since there is hardly any room to put a mall in LA. SO in this blog I will explain the best places to go shopping.

The first is the Fashion District located in the heart of LA and only 3.5 Miles. It takes around 45min to get there using public transportation (take the metro to the bus) and takes around 10 min to get there in your own car.  The fashion district is a great place to go if you need a crazy costumes or suitcases or dresses.  You can find pretty much everything in the fashion district (even baby bunnies and turtles).  The things I usually go down there for are shoes and going out dresses.  They have adorable shoes and they are very cheap.  However, if you are looking for something nice I would steer clear of the Fashion district, although there are some nice stores, they are usually hidden in between fabric stores and other random stores.

However, if you are looking for nice clothing and a more “Mall” type of environment we have the grove which is only 8.5 miles and takes about 25 minutes to drive there. Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to get there through public transportation. The grove is a beautiful outdoor mall and has a farmers market.  THere are so many stores and great restaurants to eat at and you there is a very high possibility to bump into some celebrities.  To see a complete listing of the shops and resturants here is the website: http://www.thegrovela.com/.  And I strongly suggest that you go and check it out, it is an amazing experience.

Old-town Pasadena is also a great place to go shopping and it is 13 miles away.  The good thing about Old-town is that you can get there from the Metro.  It will take you about 1 hour and 10 minutes to get there but you would avoid a lot of traffic which you would usually hit from driving. Old town is a very family friendly atmosphere and has SO many good shops and restaurants.  One of my favorite restaurants is a little french bakery called Aux Delices. Its a great place to stop in between shopping.  If you want a list of their shops and restaurants here is their website: http://www.oldpasadena.org/.

So there is just a little preview of the shopping around USC.
