Happy Homecoming!

It’s one of my favorite weeks of the year: homecoming! Homecoming at USC is little different than it was at high school. It’s still the game that all of the alums come back for and USC does a lot of events and tailgates and such for milestone reunions. It’s pretty cool to see banners that say “USC Class of 1956 Reunion.” Seeing all of the older people here still tailgating and fighting on as hard as the currents students is awesome and I love the spirit and tradition that comes with it. It’s also kind of weird to think that some day that will be me.

This week my sorority is paired with a fraternity and we have an event every day leading up to the game. On Monday we had pumpkin carving and hot chocolate because it was Halloween! I couldn’t stay long because I had an exam the next day but it was nice to be able to pumpkin carve since I haven’t done that in a few years. On Tuesday we had a scary movie night and on Wednesday we had an off campus event – KARAOKE!! Even though I am a truly awful singer, getting on a bunch of busses and going to a venue where everyone can be silly and sing was a lot of fun. I definitely prefer to watch people sing than to sing myself, but I had a lot of fun regardless. Tonight we went to the fraternity for an event, but I couldn’t stay long because I have another exam tomorrow (and yet here I am procrastinating studying while I blog).

Tomorrow and Saturday are my favorite events of the week and I’m so happy I can go without having to worry about any upcoming midterms. Tomorrow night the event is at an off-campus venue and the theme is “sci-fi”. I haven’t quite figured out my costume but I’m sure I’ll think of something in the next 24 hours. Saturday is another Game Day!! Except this time it’s going to be full of alumni and visitors for the homecoming game! We have a tailgate that starts a few hours before the game as our last event of the week.

Even though I’m a little stressed with midterms right now, it’s been a lot of fun de-stressing at all of our homecoming events. Keep up with my Instagram (@briajamison) if you want to see what my sci-fi costume ends up being!
