Alice Gusev

Electrical & Computer Engineering, Class of 2021

Mukilteo, Washington

Hey there! My name is Alice and I’m pursuing a major in Electrical & Computer Engineering. When I’m not coding or working on lab write-ups, I love to spend my free-time bouldering, working out, and shopping on Abbot Kinney! As for on-campus involvement, I’m a member of CHAARG (an all-women’s workout group) and the Maker’s Team. Being a Seattleite, I love skiing, hiking, and the outdoors! You can easily find me hunting for Boba around campus or grinding the night away in the philosophy library! Feel free to ask me about anything EE/CE, or about where you can find the best coffee at USC!

My Blogs

Check out what I have been up to in my recent blog posts!

Electrical Engineers do it with more frequency and less resistance.

 My Favorite Things About USC

  • One of my favorite things to do is hangout at the USC Village. I can drink good coffee, study, and take a shopping break!

  • I absolutely adore the EE Building. It’s right by RTH, where I can grab some snacks. It also has a really cool study room with bean bags, couches, a piano, and free coffee!

My Major: Electrical & Computer Engineering

     Why EECE?

I came into college thinking I wanted to be a mechanical engineer, but after accidentally being placed on the electrical team for a project, I saw the versatility of electrical engineering. For someone who loves engineering and is also prety indecisive, I love that I have many options. Not only that, but EE is constantly changing, so I like that there is something new to learn all the time! It's perfect for someone who loves both hands on and stationary work.

Passion in my Field

  • Antonov An-225 Mriya (world’s largest plane)

  • SR-71 Blackbird (supersonic military machine)

  • Airbus A350-1000 (brand new passenger plane)

  • Embraer 175 (I ride back and forth to Arkansas on this great aircraft)

  • The Concorde (supersonic passenger jet)

Passion in the Classroom

My Favorite Courses

This is a junior level class for aerospace, mechanical, and astronautical engineers with Professor Yann Daniel Staelens. The purpose of the class is to learn how to use computer modeling to create 3D parts, assemblies, and run tests using he program NX. Although very time consuming, I really enjoy the challenge and learning how to make things come to fruition from my imagination.
